My son loves this book and asks for it regularly. About 80 percent of this book is dedicated to describing the characters' state of mind and the environment around them. The author, now 91 years old, lived and worked with his wife and kids in a village called Haka in the years from 1946-1966 with a group called the American Baptist mission. The English is impeccable, the language is taut, the characters fully developed, and the story line compelling. The story picks up with her Dad and Joan already married and the marriage of Brandon and Hannah having recently taken place after a one year engagement.
